Established in 1986, Sheffield University Management School is in the global elite of business and management schools worldwide, having been awarded Triple Crown accreditation by the three most influential accreditation bodies – AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS*.
This places us firmly in the top one per cent of business and management schools in the world, enhancing our global position and putting us on a path to meeting long term ambitions. Triple Crown accreditation is an endorsement of the quality of our programmes, research output, support for students and alumni, and links with industry.
As a complement to our cutting-edge knowledge and courses, Sheffield University Management School moved to a newly refurbished building in 2013. The high calibre facilities, which are close to the Students’ Union, Sheffield city centre and the Peak District, act as a dynamic hub which stimulates excellent study, thinking and the proactive exchange of ideas. We designed them to benefit our students in their taught and independent study at every level.
We have four comfortable lecture theatres. The Fretwell-Downing lecture theatre accommodates 200, and two smaller spaces take 60 and 100. However, our stand-out space is certainly the executive-style Middleton lecture theatre with high-specification communications technology, including microphones and ICT sockets at each desk. We designed them to benefit our students in their taught and independent study, as well as our staff – it is a wonderful working environment.
Research & teaching
As part of a Russell Group establishment, Sheffield University Management School has a research-led academic/teaching staff. Regularly published and always research active, students benefit from being taught by individuals at the top of their field.
Members of staff engage in socially responsible research, publish high quality research and actively engage non-academic users of our research in order to make a positive difference to organisations and society. In line with our school’s mission, our main area of research focus is the promotion of socially-responsible work practices. Research is led by the Associate Dean for Research, supported by the Heads of Divisions and Research Centres.
The research we undertake at Sheffield University Management School makes a contribution to both society and the economy. We work with partners at local, national and international levels to provide a positive impact on the world.
